About Julie

With a degree in Art Education, I see hair design and color with a different perspective. I have an artistic eye for hair color that compliments skin tones and eye color. I design haircuts that compliment face shape, hair type and lifestyle. I specialize in natural hair color, grey coverage, curly hair and more. I love creating a natural grow-out so there are no harsh lines when the hair grows out.

History: After graduating from college, I trained in cosmetology in the Bay Area and started my career in Grass Valley. I moved to Auburn in 2006, and the industry took a major change with social media. That's when I found my true style, my own techniques, and I honed in on my craft. Stylists were connected all over the world. We became a community lifting each other up and breaking free from the rules hair color distributors have made for us. Stylists stated taking risks, becoming more creative and understanding the true chemistry of color. We shared what we learned with the world, and I grew by leaps and bounds. I mastered balayage, color melts, babylights, roots shadowing and more. I have all these new techniques to create a dimensional hair color to compliment the colors that look best on you. My true love is creating natural looking hair, working with the clients current color to create a soft grow out. I love to work with my clients face shapes, face tones and lifestyle.

HAIRCUTS: I consider 3 things when designing a hair cut:

1) Face Shape - The first thing I do when a client comes in - is look at the way their hair is falling- especially around the face. I will often do dry cutting around the face to work with how the clients hair falls when they do it on their own at home. This ensures that when the client styles it at home, they have the best results.

2)Lifestyle - I often ask how the client styles their hair, making sure the cut works with their lifestyle. Then I give ideas and tips on how they can improve on their styling techniques.

3)Hair Type - Everyone’s hair has its limits. I work with the hair you have when designing a cut. Wave pattern, density and coarseness make a huge difference on the type of cut that will work for you. By the way, I love cutting curly hair :)
