Are we doing Stripy haircolor again already?

Stripy hair color was all the rage 20 years ago.

I like to refer to stripy hair as headbands of the hair. It started as a bad-girl look inspired by the X-Tina era. There are several variations of stripy hair, The result is a bold and eye-catching look. Here are some common methods for creating stripy hair color:

Color Blocking:

Color blocking is coloring a large part of the hair. Typically, this has been coloring the top 2/3 of the hair a natural color, then the bottom nape 1/3 a vivid color.

Highlights and Lowlights:

Highlights involve lightening specific sections of hair, while lowlights involve adding darker shades. Alternating these two techniques creates a stripy effect. For a more natural look, the contrast between the colors can be subtle, or for a bolder appearance, the contrast can be more pronounced.

Peek-a-Boo Highlights:

This technique involves adding highlights to the bottom layers of the hair, creating a peek-a-boo effect when the hair moves. It's a subtler way to introduce a stripy element without making the color too overwhelming.

When considering stripy hair color, it's essential to work with a hairstylist to achieve the desired effect and ensure that the colors complement each other well. The level of contrast, the choice of colors, and the overall placement can be customized based on personal style preferences and the desired outcome.
