Do you have frizzy hair? Maybe it’s just Curly.
Curly Haircut
In my chair, sometimes the hairstyle lesson is more important than the haircut. In one case today I had a client with extremely curly hair that didn't know it. She knew she had some curls but didn't understand how curly her hair really was. She was always trying to blow it out and would always end up with a head of frizz that looked unruly. Her dry, gray hair also contributes to the unruliness. She thought her hair was in bad shape but it really wasn't in bad at all. Yes, it was dry, but it wasn't the reason why her hair was frizzing out so much. The reason her hair was because she's not wearing it in her natural state. She was working against her hair instead of with it. She was brushing through her curls, then blow drying them and then trying to curl them with hot rollers which just ended up in a big frizz ball. The top of her hair is less curly so it always worked ok on the top but the sides and the back we're out of control.
In this case, teaching her how to control her curls was much more important than the haircut itself. Her ends were not as dead as she thought, they were just curly!
I taught her how to style curly hair which if you're interested I will have a blog on how to style curly hair as well. For this client she has curly hair everywhere except for on top which she likes to blow out and have lots of volume. She always wears her hair half up half down. I taught her how to style her hair curly for the back and how to blow it out on the top so it's smooth yet has volume. Her situation is very unique where she's styling her hair different for the top and for the back. Everybody's hair is different and what works for one person isn't always going to work for the next person. My goal for her was to teach her how to do her hair for first second and third day hair. I wanted her hair to be smooth, in a shape that compliments her face shape, and easy for her to do. I gave her many ideas and techniques to try. I also recommended many different products that she can try.
Are you having a hard time figuring out your hair on first second and third day? Is your hair frizzy and unruly, or is it just curly? I can help you figure out how to style your hair so it still feels like you but it's easier and smoother.
