Receding Hairlines in Women

I’ve come across many women who are concerned with the loss of hair in their temples. It often happens in menopause, but can start in adulthood and with childbirth. It is very common for women to thin out in the temples, in fact, I rarely have women past 35 that have full temples. I have seen slight thinning to complete loss of hair in the area. I also have lost hair in my temples, but it doesn’t bother me. It does bother some women quite a bit. So what should you do if it bothers you? There are lots of options, and here are a few:

Root touch up spray: This works wonders to make thin hair look fuller. I love L’oreal, and always keep it on hand when my roots are getting grey. I sometimes have one in the car in case I’m shocked when I see my roots in the mirror. I use it on my temples when i pull back my hair straight into a pony, and I also use it on my sides if it looks thin while in a pony.

Styling in a pony: When putting you hair in a pony, do one of two things. First, leaving down a curtain bang always makes a pony look more finished, and will hide the temples. Second, try pulling your hair straight back and pulling the temple hair down with a tiny bit of hair along the hairline. This makes a more finished look, and is pretty stylish. You can always spray your temples if needed.

Tattoo: I have gone down a rabbit hole on researching options for my clients, and yes, tatooing is an option, and i don think its a bad option. If you have some hair left, and it really bothers you, I would look into this. There are many types tattooing, microblading etc. Some are more permanent than others.

Hair Patch: This is one of my favorite options if you have bald spots. I really want one of my clients to try this! It’s really hard to find, but there are patches of hair that you can glue to your temples! It looks so natural- or so I think- I haven’t seen it in real life. The patches are individual pieces of hair woven onto a very thin piece of fabric, almost lace. when you put it up against your skin its almost invisible, and when the hair is over it, you cant see it.

Hair Replacement: This is another good option if your temples really bother you, and since the temples are a small space, it’s way more affordable than other areas. You don’t really notice anyone with “hair plugs” anymore because its done so well nowadays, its actually your real hair. and if you have fuller hair in other areas, you’re a perfect candidate.

Let me know if you have tries anything that works for you! This is a real problem that women face and there isn’t much research available on the internet, so I’d love to hear from women that have success stories!
